SEOUL GOT SOUL
I am from homeland.
The cars on the highway flow all night long.
No sleeping time for the roads.
Like the color of topaz and ruby treasures
City lights are interlaced with one another.
Time lost, standing on the balcony.
I am from the permanent gleam.
The gaudy glow of neon lights dispels the darkness
Of the night hovering over the city streets.
The sober folks walk warily and drunks stagger uncaringly.
I am from a sole nation of separation
Where innocent armed forces face each other.
A near distance far across the line –
The thirty-eighth parallel-
Granted peacefully.
Irreproachable mines buried in the ground.
I am from the boxed partition.
People are sharing one stream of water and electricity with neighbors -
No communication is needed.
All they hope for is a nice and cozy house,
Secured with concrete layer upon layer.
