The Artifact: Passport
After the interviews, the first object came up to my mind was my passport. It is given that everyone who travels to different countries must carry the passport. Therefore, I thought this object should be able to create a bigger bond of sympathy to the readers. Personally, passport is the symbol of challenge. This object is the exit to my comfort zone; it is the gateway to challenge. At the same time as I feel anxious to enter the States, I feel protection by looking at my passport because it will attest and prove my identity as a citizen of Republic of Korea. This is why I pay a lot of attention to my passport especially when I am traveling because once I loose this passport, I no longer have a valid tool to testify who I am.
Moreover, it gives me a different feeling according to the destination I pick. Of course I would need my passport when I am traveling. However, I will be filled with joyfulness and excitement, not with fear since traveling is such an enjoyable hobby to me. When my destination is the United States, for the purpose of school, I will be quite nervous, homesick, and challenged. I believe passport is such a magical object that creates very different emotions and attitude to me every time I see it. My perspective of this artifact definitely alters every time I see it. It forces me to grow and become a well-rounded person.
